Intentional view points and a shared visual language of exposed lightweight metal structure and material articulation echo the Gropius house and the broader Bauhaus legacy. The site, conveying a sense of renewed respect and orientation, will educate and serve visitors for decades to come.

The garage is the first structure encountered upon arrival at the Gropius House, providing a clear point of orientation and a direct visual connection to the landmark residence. Over time, however, it has been altered, evolving into its current role as a museum support space that houses administration, visitor information, and a small portable restroom.

Through adaptive-reuse and expansion, we honors the garage’s historical significance while expanding its contemporary function through an attached structure The new addition repeats the footprint of the garage and rotates away to hide itself from key sightlines to maintain the site’s original quality.
